TEACHING PRACTICE {PHASE 1}[DAY 1 -DAY 4]

Journey into the Classroom: My First Steps as a Teacher📚👩‍🏫

As part of our BEd curriculum our first phase teaching practice started on 14th July 2025 .We selected St Marys HSS Kizhakkekara,Kottarakara as our practice school. A total of 21 students from our college were assigned to this school
From the Physical Science department five students were selected Julia Jeeja Alfy Vaishnavi and myself

Day 1 – 14 July 2025 (Monday)

We reached the school by 9:00 am. We submitted our register books to senior assistant Rose Mary teacher, the . The school arranged seating for us in the library. Many student teachers from other training colleges were also present. After the Morning Prayer, Rose Mary teacher and the Headmaster addressed us and gave us instructions and suggestions for our teaching practice.

During the interval, we met our mentor teachers. My mentor teacher is Soumini Miss, who is the class teacher of 9A. She gave me the full timetable and allotted me to take Physics for class 9A and Chemistry for class 9H. There were no classes assigned to me on the first day. I used the free time to complete some pending work. The school dispersed at 3:30 pm. We waited till 4:15 pm, signed the register, and returned home.

It was a pleasant first day. Returning to the school atmosphere after many years brought back memories of my own school days.

Day 2 – 16 July 2025 (Wednesday)

We reached the school on time. That day we had line duty, where we helped manage the students as they entered the school. I got my first chance to take a class in 9A. I taught the topic "Displacement" from the chapter "Equations of Motion" in Physics.

The class was a good experience. The students responded well, and I was happy with my performance. I had no other classes that day, so I spent the free time doing other work. At 4:15 pm, we signed the register and returned home.

Day 3 – 17 July 2025 (Thursday)

I reached the school at 9:00 am and signed the register. I was assigned line duty in the morning. I had a class during the second period in 9A, where I taught the topic "Velocity" in Physics.

I was also given lunch duty that day. In the sixth period, I observed a class taken by my mentor teacher. It was a valuable opportunity to learn classroom management skills. After signing the register at 4:15 pm, I returned home.

Day 4 – 18 July 2025 (Friday)

I reached the school by 9:00 am. The number of students was very low due to an educational strike in Kollam district. Although the classes were held, they did not follow the regular timetable.

During the second period, I got a special chance to help a student who did not know basic Malayalam. I tried to teach him simple letters and words. This was a meaningful experience for me. It reminded me that teaching is not just a profession, but also a service.

As the school closed at 3:30 pm, we signed the register and returned home
