TEACHING PRACTICE {PHASE 1}[DAY 5 -DAY 8]

 Day 5 – 21st July 2025 (Monday)

This was the sixth day of our first phase teaching practice. I reached the school at 9:00 AM. As per the timetable, I had a class during the first period in class 9A. The topic taken was "Uniform Velocity and Non-Uniform Velocity" in Physics. On this day, the school celebrated Moon Day. A large telescope was set up in front of the school, and the words “ചാന്ദ്ര ദിനം” were creatively written using colored salt. During the morning session after the prayer, several students shared information related to Moon Day through the school’s public address system. I also visited the telescope area, took some photographs, and engaged with the celebration. There were no more classes on that day, and we left the school at 4:50 PM.


Day 6 – 23rd July 2025 (Wednesday)


On the eighth day, we reached the school by 8:45 AM and signed the register. I had a class in the first period with class 9A, where I continued teaching Physics. The topic covered was "Acceleration." Additionally, I was assigned lunch duty and line duty, which I completed diligently. After finishing my responsibilities, I left the school at 4:15 PM.


Day 7 – 25th July 2025 (Friday)


On the tenth day of our teaching practice, I reached the school at 9:00 AM. I had a class during the 4th period with class 9H. This was my first class with that division. The subject taught was Chemistry, and the topic was "Mendeleevs periodic table" from the chapter on the Periodic Table.Also got a substitution period on 9H at 6 th hourtake the topic "modern periodic law". No other classes were allotted to me that day, and I returned home at 4:15 PM.

Day 8 – 26th July 2025 (Saturday)


This Saturday was a working day to compensate for the holiday on Thursday due to Karkidaka Vavu. The school followed Thursday’s timetable. I reached the school at 9:00 AM. Due to it being a Saturday, student attendance was low. I had three classes in the 9H division. I continued with the Periodic Table chapter in Chemistry, focusing on "position of elements in the periodic table,electronic configuration of element in the periodic table Main Group Elements, . During the free time, I engaged in preparation and other pending works. I left the school at 4:15 PM.

Weekend reflection - 1 ( 19th July 2025)

 



The first weekend reflection was conducted at the college in the General Hall under the guidance of Praveena tr  and Swathi Teacher. Representatives from 17 schools participated and shared their reflections about the first week of teaching practice. Most of them spoke about their initial experiences with students and teachers at the school. Many expressed that they felt anxious while taking their first classes and found classroom management to be a challenging task. Some had already adjusted to the school environment, while others were still finding it difficult to adapt. The session concluded with valuable suggestions and guidance from the teachers.

TEACHING PRACTICE {PHASE 1}[DAY 1 -DAY 4]

 Journey into the Classroom: My First Steps as a Teacher📚👩‍🏫

As part of our BEd curriculum our first phase teaching practice started on 14th July 2025 .We selected St Marys HSS Kizhakkekara,Kottarakara as our practice school. A total of 21 students from our college were assigned to this school
From the Physical Science department five students were selected Julia Jeeja Alfy Vaishnavi and myself

Day 1 – 14 July 2025 (Monday)

We reached the school by 9:00 am. We submitted our register books to senior assistant Rose Mary teacher, the . The school arranged seating for us in the library. Many student teachers from other training colleges were also present. After the Morning Prayer, Rose Mary teacher and the Headmaster addressed us and gave us instructions and suggestions for our teaching practice.

During the interval, we met our mentor teachers. My mentor teacher is Soumini Miss, who is the class teacher of 9A. She gave me the full timetable and allotted me to take Physics for class 9A and Chemistry for class 9H. There were no classes assigned to me on the first day. I used the free time to complete some pending work. The school dispersed at 3:30 pm. We waited till 4:15 pm, signed the register, and returned home.

It was a pleasant first day. Returning to the school atmosphere after many years brought back memories of my own school days.

 



Day 2 – 16 July 2025 (Wednesday)

We reached the school on time. That day we had line duty, where we helped manage the students as they entered the school. I got my first chance to take a class in 9A. I taught the topic "Displacement" from the chapter "Equations of Motion" in Physics.

 

The class was a good experience. The students responded well, and I was happy with my performance. I had no other classes that day, so I spent the free time doing other work. At 4:15 pm, we signed the register and returned home.

Day 3 – 17 July 2025 (Thursday)

I reached the school at 9:00 am and signed the register. I was assigned line duty in the morning. I had a class during the second period in 9A, where I taught the topic "Velocity" in Physics.

 I was also given lunch duty that day. In the sixth period, I observed a class taken by my mentor teacher. It was a valuable opportunity to learn classroom management skills. After signing the register at 4:15 pm, I returned home.

 

Day 4 – 18 July 2025 (Friday)

I reached the school by 9:00 am. The number of students was very low due to an educational strike in Kollam district. Although the classes were held, they did not follow the regular timetable.

 During the second period, I got a special chance to help a student who did not know basic Malayalam. I tried to teach him simple letters and words. This was a meaningful experience for me. It reminded me that teaching is not just a profession, but also a service.

 As the school closed at 3:30 pm, we signed the register and returned home
