As part of our community-based practical activities, our class embarked on a memorable field trip on October 4, 2024. We divided into two groups, each exploring locations relevant to our subjects under the guidance of our teachers.

First Destination : Kumaranasan Memorial, Thonnakkal
Our journey began at the Kumaranasa umn Memorial in Thonnakkal, a serene and well-preserved tribute to the life and works of the renowned poet Kumaranasan. The memorial houses photographs, handwritten manuscripts, and artefacts, providing an intimate glimpse into his literary journey. The tranquil surroundings offered an ideal setting for literature enthusiasts to reflect on his contributions to Malayalam poetry. The visit enriched our understanding of his legacy and inspired us to delve deeper into his works.

Second destination: Priyadarsini Planetarium
Next, we explored the Priyadarsini Planetarium, a hub of scientific discovery. The planetarium boasts an astronomical observatory, a science play park, and a captivating 3D theatre. Students actively engaged with the interactive installations and experiments that explained complex scientific concepts in a simple, visual manner. The show in the dome theatre, which illustrated the mysteries of space, was particularly fascinating. After an enlightening morning, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at the planetarium premises.

Third Destination: Kerala Arts and Crafts Village
Our afternoon was spent at the Kerala Arts and crafts Village, a vibrant showcase of Kerala's traditional arts and crafts. The village featured exquisite works in wood carving, traditional ornaments, and musical instruments, crafted by skilled local artisans. The artists enthusiastically demonstrated their techniques and shared insights about the materials used in their creations. This cultural immersion offered a profound appreciation for Kerala's rich artistic heritage.

Fourth Destination: Kovalam Beach
We concluded our day at the scenic Kovalam Beach, where we reunited with the second group. After a refreshing tea break, we spent the evening enjoying the serene waves, golden sands, and the vibrant atmosphere of the beach. It was a perfect spot to unwind and reflect on the day’s experiences, leaving us rejuvenated and filled with fond memories.
The field trip provided a perfect blend of education and recreation, allowing students to connect theory with real-world experiences. It was a day of discovery, learning, and bonding that will remain cherished for a long time.
