The second optional reflection of the second phase teaching practice was conducted today in the Physical Science optional class under the coordination of the teacher educator. A total of fifteen student-teachers from five different schools participated in the session and shared their experiences from the past week.
Most student-teachers reported that the completion of the mid-term examination and the preparations for the Sub-district Kalolsavam in their respective schools resulted in several substitution period being assigned to them. This allowed many of them to complete a good number of lesson plans during the week. Some schools had additional programmes such as NCC camps, open assemblies, certificate distribution, and Children’s Day celebrations, which included rallies, special assemblies, and cultural programmes. A few student-teachers had opportunities to conduct experiment-based classe, while others handled substitution periods in various sections, including subjects outside their optional area.
Certain schools were actively engaged in competition practice related to Kalolsavam, and some student-teachers were assigned additional responsibilities such as library duty and assisting with event arrangements. A few students also reported challenges, such as delays in receiving the second part of the textbook for students. Overall, the participants agreed that the week provided a variety of experiences, from classroom teaching and classroom management to involvement in different school-level activities, which contributed positively to their growth as prospective teachers.ππ️❤️
